Portable air conditioners will only work in rooms that either have windows that are able to open at least 6 inches (15 cm).
B
Have a suspended ceiling (of polystyrene type or similar) with a ceiling void of at least 16 inches (40 cm)
C
Any other means of ducting the exhaust air through either the "tumble-dryer type" hose on the back of the unit or via the condenser box at the end of a thick hose.
For the CoolCulator to offer and an accurate estimate it is vital that the dimensions are correct.

Please describe from the examples below the room type that best fits the description of the area to be cooled.
  
Area has no exceptional heat load, e.g. an office with an average amount of staff for the size of the room, (i.e. Not packed together like sardines!) a reception area, a medical surgery, a residential room or another similar type of area
   
Area has additional heat load from e.g. flat roof, overcrowding, refrigeration units, lighting, cooking, electrical or gas appliances or any similar heat generating equipment.
The area is a conservatory with double glazing or heat reflecting glass.

   
Area has high heat load e.g. a computer room with server racks, a catering kitchen, a portakabin, a conservatory with plain glass or any other excessive heat generating condition.
 
The area is large ( above 450Sq ft - 42 sq mtr) and typically a shop/showroom, factory/warehouse, health club/gym, club/ pub/ dance hall, marquee or similar large area with good natural ventilation eg. opening windows or doors etc.
  
Note. This question must be answered
If the area to be cooled has South facing* windows, do those windows account for more then 20% of the wall area. If the units are being purchased/hired for bedroom use i.e. after sunset then answer (No).
  
* If you get direct sun at around midday, you are south facing.

 
Please confirm whether the room to be cooled is being used for home/office use or a semi-industrial application. If the room is for home/office use then the CoolCulator will suggest options utilising a number of smaller unit(s) whereas the CoolCulator will recommend fewer larger unit for semi-industrial applications.
