Air Conditioners for Bedrooms

One of the main reasons that people struggle to sleep at night is due to uncomfortable temperatures (both hot and cold) and high humidity. Air Conditioners can instantly and efficiently solve both these situations, and they are less expensive than you may think.

The Air Conditioning Company only installs air conditioners that are whisper quiet and cause no distraction whatsoever. This means you won’t have to leave a window open and have outside night-time noises affect your sleep; ideal if you live near the main road.

Usually, a low-powered air conditioner is suitable for most bedrooms. When selecting an aircon unit, the primary considerations are typically based on price, features, and aesthetics.

We provide a free site survey no matter how big or small the job. All surveys are carried out by our experienced air conditioning surveyors who can tackle even the toughest of bedroom installations.

Ideal Systems for Bedrooms

Wall Mounted Air Conditioners

Wall units are the most common for bedrooms

Cheapest and easiest installation option

Exceptionally quiet for undisturbed sleep

Wall-mounted air conditioners are the most common units used in a bedroom setting. The two main advantages are that wall units are usually the cheapest to install and can be easily retrofitted in bedrooms without the need for redecoration. They are long, thin and placed at a high level on the wall. Like all models designed for bedrooms, they are exceptionally quiet, which means that they’ll never stop you from having a good night's sleep.

A single wall unit is almost always powerful enough for a bedroom. In terms of aesthetics, there are also premium models of wall units, such as Daikin Stylish, Daikin Emura, and Mitsubishi Zen units (click the link below to see). They are a little more expensive; however, they are the best-looking units.

If you are only looking to cool your bedroom, then 95% of installs use Single-Split Air Conditioners. They are the simplest and most cost-effective option available. They have one internal cooling unit and one external condenser box (as shown in the image above).

The more single-splits you install, the more external condensers you require. If you are looking to install multiple units throughout your house and external space is at a premium, then you may want to consider a multi-split system.

If you need to cool more than one room, a Multi-Split Air Conditioning System is often the best option. The reason for this is that you can have multiple internal units connected to a single external condenser box. This often helps with planning permission and also aesthetic appearance.

If your local council refuse planning permission, then a water-cooled air conditioning system is the ideal solution.

These systems are exclusively used in situations where an external condenser box is not possible, usually due to planning restrictions.

Rather than releasing heat to the outside world like traditional air conditioners (via a condenser box), Water-Cooled Air Conditioners have an internal unit connected to the main water supply. Cold mains water is pumped through the system, keeping it cool, allowing the internal air conditioner to run efficiently.

Low Wall Mounted Air Conditioners for Bedrooms

- Perfect for lofts with sloping ceilings

- More aesthetically pleasing than traditional units

- Custom design solutions available

Low wall-mounted air conditioners are similar to the wall units discussed above, but they are placed at a lower level on the wall. They are more expensive than traditional wall units, but customers sometimes prefer them because, like radiators, they are placed low and out of sight.

Low-wall air conditioning units are often used in bedrooms within converted lofts, as they fit neatly on the short wall below a sloping ceiling.

Our surveyors will usually recommend ‘high-wall’ units (due to price), so if you are interested in having ‘low wall’ aircon units in your bedroom, ensure to tell our surveyors, and they’ll happily design a suitable solution for you.

The more single splits you install, the more external condensers you will require. If you want to install multiple units throughout your house and your external space is limited, then you may want to consider a multi-split system.

If you wish to cool more than one room, then a Multi-Split Air Conditioning System is often the best option. The reason for this is that you can have multiple internal units with only one external condenser box. This often helps with planning permission and also aesthetic appearance.

Ducted Units for Bedrooms

- Most aesthetically pleasing option available

- Completely hidden except for a small grille

- Perfect for new-build properties

Ducted Air Conditioning Systems are the most expensive option, but they are certainly the most aesthetically pleasing and are hugely popular in new-build properties. The ductwork and unit are hidden within the ceiling or loft space, so all that is visible is a small, unobtrusive grille.

Ducted units are best fitted as part of a new development or building project, as they require a ceiling void and some pre-planning. If you are having other work carried out in the ceiling space, we will need to liaise with your architects or project managers to ensure that all installation work is managed efficiently and effectively.

There are various grille designs available that suit different room shapes and sizes. Our surveyors will talk you through various solutions to ensure you achieve the design aesthetic you desire.
